releef phone app: Adopting Corals
Problem:
Coral reefs inhabit over 1 million diverse aquatic species, but is also greatly beneficial to human beings as well. It helps generate millions of jobs (such as tourism for example) and has been known for food, protection to coastal cities, and have been key ingredient to many medications. Unfortunately, due to climate change, pollution, and overfishing, we lost roughly half of coral reefs in the last 30 years, and more than 90 percent of world's coral reefs will die by 2050.
solution:
We may not save all the corals, but we can help rebuild corals reefs again by collaborating with organizations worldwide in creating coral nurseries. In this digital-centric world today, we came up with an interactive solution, where users will "adopt" a reef and be able to get more info and check the coral's status through this app.
